OR measles cases rises to 4 as Vancouver-area reaches 50

2019 Measles Outbreaks

All three cases are children who were not vaccinated or did not complete their vaccine series.

The Oregon cases are a part of the larger Vancouver-area outbreak that stands at 50 confirmed cases of measles and 11 suspected cases as of Wednesday, according to Clark County Public Health.

This adds to the national measles outbreak seen across the county. "They stayed away from others while on symptom watch, so we have no new public exposures to measles".

The HSE says while the majority of children in Donegal still receive the MMR vaccine, the numbers have been dropping slightly over the past few years. If exposed to the virus, anyone who is not immune is likely to get measles. The virus spreads through the air and can linger for up to two hours in an isolated space.

Washington now has a sufficient supply of MMR vaccine for children and adults; however, as the outbreak continues, vaccine supply may be affected. It is important that you do not visit your GP without first letting him or her know that you or your child may have measles.

Statewide in Washington, orders for measles vaccine jumped about 30 percent, climbing from 12,140 doses to 15,780 doses, figures showed.

While Public Health has urged people with measles-like symptoms to call ahead to medical providers before visiting their providers, there were three new exposure locations identified in the latest Public Health news release, and all three were medical facilities.

According to Montgomery County officials, a 2-year-old girl is recovering from the disease. Three times as many people have gotten vaccinated in January - from 200 per day in 2018 to 600 per day in 2019. "Unfortunately, people think that measles is just a rash and fever but measles can cause serious health concerns, especially in young children, and is highly contagious".

The health department said there are two other potential cases of measles that are pending as they wait for test results.
