Marvel Is Launching an Adult Animated TV Universe on Hulu

Howard The Duck

Finally, Marvel Television's Jeph Loeb will executive produce The Offenders, which brings characters from all four shows together.

The Disney-owned company has its sights set on a new partnership: with Hulu, one of Netflix's current competitors both in streaming and in original content.

File of fans of Marvel comic books march to Hollywood Walk of Fame Star, in Hollywood, California on December 28, 2018. Real subtle, guys. Anyway, the series will all be handled by Marvel Television head Jeph Loeb and add to Marvel and Hulu's programming which, currently, includes The Runaways. In the case of Howard the Duck, perhaps that distinguishes Marvel's Howard the Duck from George Lucas' infamous live-action Howard the Duck. Patton Oswalt is writing and producing M.O.D.O.K. alongside Jordan Blum and Marvel Television chief Jeph Loeb, while Chelsea Handler is an executive producer and writer on Tigra & Dazzler alongside Loeb and Erica Rivinoja.

Hit-Monkey will be written and executive produced by Josh Gordon and Will Speck, the team that previously co-directed films like Blades of Glory and Office Christmas Party. The series will follow the egomaniacal supervillain as he struggles to maintain control of his evil organization, as well as his over-the-top family. With the hope of his "Gal pal" Beverly, Howard hopes to return home before he can be cooked by the evil Dr. Bong.

The character of Hit-Monkey first appeared in a 2010 issue of Deadpool, and is a "wronged Japanese snow monkey, mentored by the ghost of an American assassin".

Marvel's Tigra & Dazzler Show is a story about two woke superheroes and best friends, Tigra and Dazzler, as they fight for recognition among powered people who make up the eight million stories in Los Angeles. But instead of heavy-hitters like Captain America and Daredevil, these Offenders cartoons will highlight more unexpected characters, and feature more unexpected creators. Writers Erica Rivinoja and Chelsea Handler serve as executive producers along with Jeph Loeb. The chatty fowl be brought back to screens by avowed comicbook nut (and occasional writer) Kevin Smith alongside Aqua Teen Hunger Force veteran Dave Willis.

Howard the Duck is one of four animated Marvel series ordered by Hulu, all of which have incredibly compelling creative teams. Jeph Loeb will executive produce. But if you haven't been keeping up with Smith's comics work, rest assured that Howard's animated turn won't revolve around ponderous dialogue at a New Jersey mall.
