Fox & Friends host says he hasn’t washed hands in 10 years

However the stance is not reflected by public health organisations

Fox & Friends host Pete Hegseth says he doesn't wash his hands. There's a good chance that hand has radioactive scabies on it because it hasn't been washed in an entire decade.

"My 2019 resolution is to say things on-air that I say off-air".

"I don't think I've washed my hands for 10 years", he blurted out, prompting hysterical laughter from his colleagues.

In his 1997 book, The Art of the Comeback, Mr Trump wrote: "One of the curses of American society is the simple act of shaking hands, and the more successful and famous one becomes the worse this awful custom seems to get".

"We're on a show and we have fun and we banter and I'm like, eh, you know, maybe I haven't washed my hands for 10 years", he said.

But sources say colleagues are still giving him a wide berth after he uses the bathroom.

"The next thing that will happen they are going to be calling my biology professor at Princeton (and ask) 'When Pete was a student in your class, did he believe germs were real?' So dumb".

"So you're becoming immune to all the bacteria", interjected co-host Jedediah Bila, who also yelled, "Someone, help me!" "I can't see them, therefore they're not real".

On Twitter on Monday, Hegseth gave mixed messages.

However, a Fox News spokesperson confirmed to PEOPLE that Hegseth was only joking. He claimed he had been joking and paraphrased the president in blaming the media for being so "self-righteous and angry".

Finally, about a minute later, Hegseth retweeted a commenter, Chris Hayes, speculating that he was "pretty clearly joking" on Sunday. "Twitter really has come full circle", Hegseth wrote on Twitter.

However, the Centers for Disease Control disagrees, its advice online reminds people that "regular hand-washing particularly before and after certain activities, is one of the best ways to remove germs, avoid getting sick, and prevent the spread of germs to others".
