Fortnite players can finally merge accounts, but it's complicated

Epic has created a way for to merge Epic accounts if you created separate logins on your PlayStation 4, Xbox One and/or the Nintendo Switch.

You just select the account that you want as the primary and then merge it with your other account.

To be eligible, one account must have played on Xbox One or Switch and the other on PS4 to be eligible for merge.

Now, Fortnite's publisher Epic Games has introduced an account merge tool that unifies all of your game progress across all platforms - giving you a single login for every version of Fortnite across PC, PS4, Xbox Live, Nintendo Switch and mobile.

It's a pretty inelegant solution to an awkward problem, but at least some sort of progress has been made.

Now, Epic has confirmed that you can merge those accounts together - and it's remarkably simple.

Players will remember the times when PS4 fans were unable to use numerous cross-platform options others could with the likes of Xbox One and Switch. There's also a caveat: Merging is only available if at least one of the accounts was in use before September 28, 2018, and, naturally, neither account can be banned or disabled.

Fortnite's account merging on console is now live, and here's how to do it. If you have a Battle Pass active or maps you want to keep on one platform, make sure to select it as your Primary Account to keep your work.

Your account must not now be banned or disabled.

But now, gamers with multiple accounts on different platforms can start the process of putting them all together, bringing with it all the cosmetic items and V-Bucks on each.

Go to the Epic Games Account Merge page. If you've been playing Save The World, you will bring over your secondary account's XP, Heroes, Llamas, Defenders, Schematics, Survivors, Evolution and Perk Materials. This means that all the cosmetic items and V-Bucks that you've earned across platforms will be conveniently gathered in one place. Head to the Epic Games site to read the complete breakdown of what will happen, what will be kept, and what will be lost.
