Cloudy, wet weather returns Sunday; heavier rain early next week

Periods of plain rain will occur during Monday. Temperatures on Monday will start in the upper 30s and then by the afternoon highs will reach around 50.

The London area is in for a messy mix of snow and freezing drizzle early this week. Heavy, wet snow will continue to fall through the rest of Monday evening. According to, there is now a 47 percent chance of 3 to 6 inches of accumulation in the area, a 40 percent chance of between 1 and 3 inches and a 3 percent chance of 6 to 10 inches of snowfall. The biggest snowfall totals will likely be into Mifflin and Juniata counties where 6"+ is possible". However, temperatures should rise above freezing around or before daybreak. That means, although rain will be falling through the atmosphere, it will freeze on contact with the roads and anything at the surface.

The Sunday forecast includes a chance of rain, freezing rain and snow in the pre-dawn hours, followed by rain through the rest of Sunday. Any ice accumulation is unsafe and will create an absolute nightmare on the roads.

How much snow and freezing rain a region receives will depend on the exact track of the low.
