Former NFL quarterback Christian Hackenberg, whose middle name is Blaize, made his return to the gridiron on Sunday as a member of the AAF's Memphis Express. The team ended up falling 26-0 to the Birmingham Iron. As it was he was second-round pick by the New York Jets in the 2016 draft, but he never took a regular season snap in two seasons.

Hackenberg, who spent three seasons in the National Football League, never taking a snap, started for the Memphis Express.

Wolford finished the night completing 18 of 29 attempts for 275 yards and scores of 5, 36, 4 and 30 yards with a pair of two-point conversion passing scores sprinkled in.

Hackenberg did provide for several viral moments on social media, at least.

Hackenberg was replaced by backup Brandon Silvers with a little more than four minutes to play. Silvers played collegiately at Troy.

Saturday's AAF debut, which featured a pair of games on CBS, registered a 2.1 rating, according to Sports Business Journal, a strong start for a league that hopes to capture football fans' attention during the NFL offseason.

Rahim Moore is starting at free safety for Arizona and Steven Johnson is a starting inside linebacker for the Hotshots.
