Cent Threatened By NYPD Commander: "Shoot Him On Sight"

50 Cent is said to be ‘concerned over the threat

New York Daily News reports Deputy Inspector Emanuel Gonzalez is under internal investigation following comments made before 50 Cent's appearance at a New York City boxing match in June a year ago.

50 Cent had commented on a news article about Gonzalez being sued by a Sunset Park club owner who had alleged the officer was shaking down his business.

The New York Daily News, citing an anonymous source with knowledge of the incident, first reported that Gonzalez, the commanding officer at the 72nd Precinct station, told officers to shoot 50 Cent "on sight".

The rapper says "get the strap" is one of his popular catchphrases. In another post, he said he was "consulting with my legal counsel regarding my options moving forward". The phrase - which 50 Cent has previously used on Instagram and popularized on his Starz TV show Power - is seen as slang for "get a gun", but a rep for 50 Cent previously told Vibe it's a "playful phrase used by Mr. Jackson to punctuate absurd and outrageous situations".

He also shared a screen caption of a report that claimed the NYPD had started to investigate his IG story caption as a threat towards Gonzalez. "He is concerned that he was not previously advised of this threat by the NYPD and even more concerned that Gonzalez continues to carry a badge and a gun".

In the harassment claim, Gonzalez said that he was in "fear for his safety" when many of 50 Cent's Instagram followers made similar statements to the rapper including, "F-k this commander" and "Blast this fool". "The inspector just said that at roll call", a source told the paper.

Gonzalez gave his cops the message on June 7 - the same day as the Bronx Smoker, where Fitty was headed to watch cops who have beefs with each other duke it out.

50 Cent and Gonzalez have a history with each other, as the two bumped heads when 50 said Gonzalez was shaking down an owner of the one the popular clubs 50 frequents in NY. "The matter is under internal review", an NYPD rep said, declining to answer further questions. 50 Cent took down the Instagram post and no charges were filed.
