Apple AirPods 2 reportedly not coming until end of 2019

Apple could release new AirPods, iPad Mini 5 and its long-awaited AirPower charging mat this spring

The publication notes that it is unlikely that the company will talk about any physical products at the March event, including the AirPods 2 or the rumoured next-generation iPad mini. Major outlets including The New York Times and The Washington Post haven't agreed to license their content to Apple's news service partly because of concerns about the proposed terms, according to Tuesday's report.

Additionally, in the coming months, Apple could finally make its AirPower wireless charging pad available, which has been largely missing in action since it was first debuted in 2017.

Back in late January, The Globe and Mail reported that Steve Maich, the former senior vice-president of publishing at Rogers, will lead Apple's News operation in Canada. According to an earlier report, AirPods 2 will offer better sound quality, aesthetically look the same when compared to its predecessor and come in a black color option with a rumored tag of $199. The differences, if any, could be in the sensors, to improve the performance of the iPods.

In line with recent reports, the source claims the second-generation AirPods will feature "Hey Siri" support with an upgraded wireless chip. Now one site claims they will all appear alongside Apple's long-awaited charging mat this spring.

OnLeaks, on the other hand, has written a Tweet stating that his sources has told him that the new AirPods will not be released until "the fall".

It will feature a redesigned charging coil configuration, making the mat slightly thicker than before and, possibly, to prevent any overheating issues.

More information from the website states that pre-orders for the AirPods 2, AirPower and new iPads will start on Friday, March 22, with the devices officially available starting March 29.

A separate report from Mac Otakara said Apple could ultimately decide to stick with the Lightning port in its upcoming iPhones.
