Anthony Joshua targets becoming global star with American debut, says Eddie Hearn

Fury and Wilder fought to a draw last year

Anthony Joshua will make his United States debut in a defence of his three world title belts against Jarrell "Big Baby" Miller on June 1, it can be revealed.

He's just landed one of the biggest fights in boxing against all the odds after months of negotiations by heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua to take on other - more notable fighters.

The 29-year-old last fought in September at Wembley, stopping Russia's Alexander Povetkin in seven rounds. The 29-year-old now holds the WBA (Super), IBP, WBO, and IBO titles and is best known for his 11th-round TKO of Wladimir Klitschko in April 2017. Four of his last five victories have come against former heavyweight world title challengers, including knockouts of Gerald Washington, Mariusz Wach and Tomasz Adamek, and a one-sided decision over Johann Duhaupas.

Miller, meanwhile, also is undefeated after winning 23 of his 24 fights. He is 6-feet-4 and in his last bout, a one-sided fourth-round knockout of Bogdan Dinu on November 17 in Mulvane, Kansas, Miller weighed 315.25 pounds. "The legacy of Heavyweights at "The Mecca of Boxing" that began with the likes of John L. Sullivan, Gene Tunney, "Jersey" Joe Wolcott, Muhammad Ali, Joe Frazier, Joe Louis, Evander Holyfield, Wladimir Klitschko and Lennox Lewis will continue when Joshua and Miller step into the famed Garden ring in front of a packed house on June 1".

Miller - nicknamed "Big Baby" - won 20 of his fights by knockout but Joshua represents a huge step-up in class.

The fight will be broadcast by DAZN, the streaming service that also has a huge monetary deal with middleweight champion Canelo Alvarez.

"A new chapter for our brilliant World King Anthony Joshua as he looks to light up America for the first time against New York's brash, big hitting Jarrell Miller", said Adam Smith, Head of Sky Sports Boxing.

Joshua had not shown much interest in leaving his home country - where he generates tens of millions of dollars for every fight - but there are those close to him who believe he warmed to the idea when he joined Hearn in NY in mid-December as Hearn co-promoted a fight between his fighter Rocky Fielding and Canelo Alvarez.

"AJ has created an incredible "Lion's Den" atmosphere in the United Kingdom and we plan to bring that energy to NY, " said Joshua's promoter, Eddie Hearn.

"I will be fighting Jarrell Miller at the legendary Madison Square Garden". Their sequel, which is close to being finalized, is likely to take place on April 27 or May 18.
