16-inch MacBook Pro coming

Apple Mac Book Pro 13-inch Touch bar

Apple will launch a ton of new gear this year, a new report claims.

Kuo expects that the new MacBook Pro will have a display sized at 16.5-inches, which would be larger than any MacBook Pro released in the past six years. Kuo's report, 2019 will see the release of Apple's biggest MacBook since 2012. The new display will have a Mini LED-like backlight design, and might be the "pro display" Apple's Phil Schiller spoke about when announcing the new Mac Pro, which is also scheduled to arrive this year.

The note also suggests the 13-inch MacBook Pro will come with 32 GB of RAM, which is a major upgrade from the 16GB of RAM that now ships with the 13-inch model. While he doesn't offer any specifics, he does suggest that Apple will be creating an epic 31.6-inch "6k3k" display. Instead of regular glass back, Apple will be using frosted glass casing for new iPhone models.

When it comes to this year's iPhones, Kuo said we'll still get 6.5-inch, 5.8-inch, and 6.1-inch models, and, unlike the most recent iPad Pros, they'll retain their Lightning ports rather than switching to USB Type-C.

A revamped iPad mini has been a long time coming and it's nice to see that Apple hasn't forgotten about a device it last upgraded all the way back in 2015.

Other tidbits from the investor note by Ming-Chi includes new iPads that will include two new iPad Pro models and a bezel shrink for the current 9.7-inch iPad. Additionally, the iPhone XR might also get upgraded to 4GB. There's also the promise of bilateral wireless charging, which could make it possible for the iPhone to wirelessly charge other devices.

Finally, Kuo says Apple will introduce a new ceramic case for the Apple Watch as well as an iPod touch with an upgraded processor.

If Kuo's report is accurate, it's going to be an exciting year for Apple fans - especially professionals, many of which are now having a hard time finding suitable hardware in Apple's store.
