The Accidental Prime Minister: Muzaffarpur court orders FIR against Anupam Kher

Anil Kapoor Reviews Anupam Kher's The Accidental Prime Minister. Says'You're Such A Great Story Teller

Muzaffarpur: A court here on Tuesday ordered the lodging of an FIR against Bollywood actors Anupam Kher, Akshaye Khanna and 15 others associated with the upcoming movie The Accidental Prime Minister based on the tenure of former prime minister Manmohan Singh.

The Delhi High Court Monday refused to restrain Google and YouTube from airing trailer of "The Accidental Prime Minister", saying that the issue relates to someone which involves "public interest" and not "personal interest".

The movie, which stars Anupam Kher as former prime minister Manmohan Singh, is based on a book of the same name by Mr Singh's then media advisor Sanjaya Baru. The court had admitted the case and fixed 8 January to hear the case in the Sub Divisional Judicial Magistrate court.

The veteran actor had been defending the content of his film after many people criticised it for hitting the theatres before Lok Sabha elections.

The petitioner had alleged in the high court that provisions of the Cinematograph Act were being misused and the film producer has released the trailer affecting the image of the office of the prime minister and giving a bad name to it at the national and global level. He has also complained against the film's director and producer. "I do not endorse the kind of politics Congress does hence we parted ways several years back But, I will say that it is not in a good taste".

The plea also alleged that if the film will be released, friendly relations with the USA and other foreign states were likely to be affected. "This is nothing but a propaganda film to show former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress party in poor light".
