South Africa vs Pakistan, 3rd Test

Dean Elgar in action for Surrey

The home side chipped away at the wickets to bowl the visitors out for 273, with Olivier (3-74) and Kagiso Rabada (3-75) the pick of a hostile South African attack that has been key to the team's success.

It was Olivier who made a double breakthrough in the third over of play on Monday when he removed Babar Azam - another searing bouncer targeting the batsman's throat - and Pakistan captain Sarfraz Ahmed first ball - a lovely delivery that nipped back and hit off-stump.

Steyn has picked 433 wickets in 91 matches for South Africa, in comparison to Dev who picked 434 wickets for India in 131 Test matches.

Pacer Duanne Olivier bagged the award for player of the series for his top-notch performance with the ball throughout the series.

Olivier then ousted Azhar with a sharply-rising bumper, taking him to 22 wickets in the series and leaving Shafiq and Babar to see Pakistan through to stumps.

The day began with De Kock and Hashim Amla (71) at the crease and they frustrated the Pakistan bowlers for much of the first session, both passing 50 in a stand of 102 before Hasan Ali (1-83) found Amla's edge with a ball that diverted off a crack in the pitch.

The Proteas claimed a 107-run victory on the fourth morning of the third and final Test match against Pakistan to record a 3-0 series whitewash and moved to number two on the ICC Test rankings. His total of ten dismissals in the match was one better than the record previously shared by Rashid Latif and Kamran Akmal.

"Our fast bowlers know what they want to do, which makes your life easier as a captain".

While sharing his thoughts about the positives gained from the series, the Pakistan skipper said: "Shan Masood played really well and also the way Babar showed his class".

On the other hand, South Africa's stand-in captain Dean Elgar was proud with the way his side performed on the field and was glad to start the year on a high.

Elgar also appreciated the work put in by his bowlers by stating: "We are fortunate to have bowlers who are experienced".

One of the remaining batsmen will clearly have to score the century that has eluded them in the series to date if Pakistan are to win the match.
