Samsung Reveals 219-Inch TV Called 'The Wall'

CES: Samsung Reveals Massive New 8K TV

If you're like many Americans, you probably wouldn't mind having a bigger TV.

A TV that can disappear when not in use and thus free up space in your home sounds fascinating, right?

Televisions are always a big star at CES. Called the LG Signature OLED TV R, the TV is expected to go on sale later this year. The TV can also transform itself into three different viewing options.

The TV is called "the wall".

Using new technology that uses less energy that televisions that are now in use, "The Wall" is actually made up of modules that allows owners to configure the set however they choose. It's from whence the TVs of tomorrow come.

There was chatter at CES over Hisense's new ULED XD display tech, which uses a dual-layer panel (essentially a 4K screen with another HD screen behind it) to enhance local dimming and dynamic range - though we're yet to see any models announced with the new tech.

Is this really "the world's most cinematic TV"?

Sony's Master Series Z9G doesn't care though - seeing as it has an advanced machine learning algorithm for upscaling to 8K, and the hefty X1 Ultimate processor to power it. The TV also supports Alexa and Google Assistant.

The television has 8K resolution, which has four times the linear resolution as full HD. No price has been given for this new 98-inch model.

"As consumers are buying bigger and bigger TVs, they're not moving their couches back so they're sitting closer and closer to the TV", the expert said. The Q900 will be equipped with a Quantum processor 8K chipset.
