Rihanna Files $75 Million Lawsuit Against Her Dad for Exploiting Her Name

Rihanna is suing her father over his use of their last name for a business.

According to several global media sources Rihanna is suing her father Ronald Fenty for exploiting the Fenty name.

Rihanna has a sketchy relationship with her father.

There's only one Fenty you want to work with in the entertainment industry, and Rihanna is making sure her father doesn't scam anyone else into thinking it's him. Rihanna has filed a lawsuit against Fenty and Fenty Entertainment, as well as another man named Moses Perkins. As if that was not enough, Rihanna claims that her dad attempted to trademark the Fenty brand to use with resort boutique hotels, but was unsuccessful. "The Blast reports that the company booked a "$15 million tour in Latin America and two concerts at Staples Center in Los Angeles and T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas for $400,000" in her name.

The lawsuit alleges Ronald Fenty created a company called Fenty Entertainment "in a fraudulent effort to solicit millions of dollars from unsuspecting third parties in exchange for false promise that they were authorized to act on Rihanna's behalf, and/or that Rihanna would perform at various locations throughout the world". Rihanna - whose full name is Robyn Rihanna Fenty - says that her father has ignored repeated warnings not to seek to do business on her behalf. The Fashion Law reports that cease and desist letters were issued to both parties after an attempt to trademark the Fenty name past year for a chain of boutique hotels, but a lawsuit for injunctive relief and monetary damages has followed due to their lack of cooperation. She is also asking for damages and attorney's fees.
