Nvidia Announces RTX 2060 for $349; Coming January 15

CES 2019: Nvidia RTX 2060 is here, it's faster than a GTX 1070Ti and costs just $349

GRAPHICS OUTFIT Nvidia has, as expected, shown off unveiled the GeForce RTX 2060 GPU. An upscaled version of the recent m15, this new model adds a 17-inch screen (obviously) and Nvidia's latest mobile GPU, which is likely going to be called the GeForce RTX 2080 Max-Q (but that's not finalized yet). It is further made obvious by the GeForce RTX labeling on the pictures being used for the event. DLSS support isn't available in Battlefield V just yet, but that should arrive later this month alongside these new GPUs.

According to Nvidia's presentation, the video card can improve performance in pretty much every modern video game.

In terms of raw specs, the RTX 2060 comes with 240 Tensor Cores and is rated for "37 RTX-OPS", compared to the RTX 2070's 45, which gives some indication as to how well ray-tracing will work. At the keynote Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang declared "RTX is here, next gen is on", before continuing to explain his statement was intended for the masses - "For $349 you can enjoy next generation gaming", Huang said to the excited audience. The RTX 2060 also packs 1920 CUDA cores, a 1365MHz/1680MHz base/boost clock speed and 6GB of GDDR6 RAM running at 14Gbps.

It's impressive stuff, but of course these were just demos optimized to illustrate a point.

We look forward to putting the next wave of RTX 2060-powered systems through their paces this year, as well as see our pals at Tom's Hardware put it through their thorough benchmark tests.

For a limited time, consumers buying a qualifying GeForce RTX 2060, or a new desktop PC equipped with the RTX 2060, can get Anthem or Battlefield V for free.

The company has officially announced that the first laptops with RTX GPUs will make debut on January 29 on the machines from the makers such as Asus, Acer, Dell, Gigabyte, Lenovo, HP, Samsung, MSI and others. The RTX 2070 will also come with your choice of the two games, and getting an RTX 2080 or 2080 Ti will get you both.
