Meghan's first royal patronage revealed by mistake

Photo of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's Cotswold home reportedly surfaces

The announcement is a major milestone for the American-born former actress, outlining the first steps of her public life as a member of the monarchy.

The National Theatre and ACU patronages have been passed to her by the Queen, who has held the roles for 45 and 33 years respectively.

Her role as patron of the National Theatre was accidentally revealed yesterday on the theatre's website. Her Royal Highness feels she can use her position to focus attention on, and make a particular difference to these organisations and, more widely, the sectors they each represent. A source also told People back in September that the duchess "spends most of her weekends" there.

The Duchess, who has long advocated for women's empowerment, is understood to have paid numerous quiet visits to the charity already, sitting in to help on client meetings as worked to choose suitable royal patronages within her areas of interest.

Meghan has always been a vocal feminist, working with organizations like One World Vision to learn about the challenges women and girls living in Dubai and Mumbai.

The Duchess of Sussex has become the patron of four organisations. "In terms of animal welfare, Mayhew is a grassroots charity working in a unique way to improve the lives of animals and people to better communities both in London and internationally".

Kensington Palace confirmed Meghan would be visiting the Smart Works today, and will be making public visits to the other three organisations over the coming weeks.

Meghan reportedly has had not had any contact with her dad since before her wedding, when he was caught staging paparazzi photos for money.

Harry, 34 and Meghan, 37, are now overseeing renovation work n their new Windsor home after they turned down the opportunity to live in a 21-room apartment at Kensington Palace amid claims of tensions between them and Prince William and Kate Middleton who would be their neighbours. The couple also plan to move from Kensington Palace to Frogmore Cottage on the grounds of Windsor Estate, about 30 miles from London.

Meghan Markle has officially been announced as patron of four organisations, taking over two of those from The Queen.
