James McCarthy could get unlikely lifeline at Everton if Idrissa Gueye exits

Everton reject PSG's £21.5m bid for Idrissa Gueye and insist he is not for sale

Everton have left Idrissa Gueye out of their squad to face Huddersfield on Tuesday as the defensive midfielder continues to be linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain.

Everton have made it clear that they do not want sell the 29-year-old midfielder despite the player making it known he wants to leave.

"He is a really important player for us", said manager Marco Silva.

"He has a minor problem with his groin".

'But to be honest with you and our fans, but after the match I found out if something new had happened because I expected your question about him.

The Senegalese global was expected to start in the Toffees' Premier League clash with the Terriers but he was omitted from squad and now looks set to leave the club before the window slams shut on Thursday night.

But for now, he remains an Everton player and with the clock rapidly approaching Thursday's 11pm transfer deadline, PSG need to move quickly if they are to land their target.

PSG, who are believed to be keen to add a midfielder to their roster, are said to have had a previous bid of £21.5 million (R382.9 million) rejected by the Toffees for the player.

"We have rejected the offer", Silva told reporters at a news conference on Monday.

"Like you expect, I am taking care every day with Gana..."

"I know the market is open until 31 January and it's always tough for us but about the new offer, £30 million, nothing came true".
