Here’s why Unai Emery wants Mesut Ozil to leave Arsenal this month

Mesut Ozil walks past Unai Emery

It's been a tumultuous time for Arsenal and the fans of late, but at least there is some substance to the exciting links to Rodriguez.

It would be understandable to assume that most Arsenal fans are clamouring for manager Unai Emery to urgently make headway in this winter transfer window, to counterbalance the current malaise the Gunners are now feeling.

Rodriguez made his name during spells at Porto and Monaco but really blew on to the world stage after some superb performances at the 2014 World Cup which earned him a big-money move to Real Madrid.

Something to boost the general January blues would most certainly be the arrival of James Rodriguez to the Emirates Stadium, with the Daily Mail reporting that the dynamic attacking midfielder could be available to Arsenal for the the astonishingly meagre fee of £3million. The Sun claimed that Barcelona's want-away midfielder Denis Suarez is the Gunners main target but the North London club are only planning a six-month loan deal.

Rodriguez has spent the last 18 months on loan at Bayern Munich and his future beyond the summer is uncertain, as he has struggled to hold down a spot this season.

The Colombia worldwide has been linked with a loan move to Arsenal after Gunners boss Unai Emery confirmed they can only sign players on a temporary basis in the mid-season window.

The Gunners are hopeful of agreeing a loan move for the remainder of the season with an option to buy in the summer for around £18million.
