Cristiano Ronaldo secures Italian Super Cup glory for Juventus

Milan coach Gennaro Gattuso said Higuain has never told him he wants to leave the club

Cristiano Ronaldo was the one to score the only goal for Juventus.

Juventus celebrate winning the Italian Super Cup on 16 January 2019.

Italian football league president Gaetano Micciche hailed the match as a success, with reports there were up to 15 000 women among the 62 000 crowd in the stadium.

It was Ronaldo's fourth goal in his past four matches as he showed little sign of being affected - on the pitch at least - by a case of alleged rape involving an American woman.

The Argentina global is now on loan at AC Milan, having been been deemed surplus to requirements by La Vecchia Signora after they signed five-time Ballon d'Or victor Cristiano Ronaldo from Real Madrid.

Both Juventus and AC Milan have won seven Super Cup titles each since the trophy was first awarded in 1988.

Duvan Zapata scored one and set up the other just as the match seemed to be heading for extra time.

With Gonzalo Higuain said to be keen on the move to Stamford Bridge, the move reportedly just needs the approval of AC Milan before it can be made official. "I think it has been useful to open this dialogue, we'll talk about it all civilly and everyone will understand everyone else's positions". Ronaldo scored the goal in the 61st minute.

Shortly after the break Milan's Patrick Cutrone's fierce shot beat Szczesny but crashed back off the crossbar.

"Until previous year, women [in Saudi Arabia] could not attend any sporting event", he said.

Ronaldo had been signed by Juventus from Real Madrid only a year ago as they looked forward to targeting the first Champions League.

There were furious protests from Milan late on when their appeals for a penalty were ignored after Can challenged Andrea Conti inside the box.
