Despite this, the company has clearly made itself known this year with a large billboard ad placed right next to the Las Vegas Convention Center, where CES is taking place.

The message to its rivals reads, "What happens on your iPhone, stays on your iPhone". The black and white image also includes an outline of an iPhone XS and Apple's privacy webpage address. Apple's ad was in a place where it could easily be seen by riders on Las Vegas monorail cars emblazoned with an ad reading "Hey, Google".

While the ad makes a jab at Google, Facebook, and other digital and electronics companies that fail when it comes to consumer privacy, Apple wants to make clear that the company will keep private the data collected through Apple Pay, Face ID, and the health data aggregated by the Apple Watch.

It's that time of the year when tech companies from around the globe gather in the glam city of Las Vegas to show off their latest gizmos and gadgets.

Apple CEO Tim Cook, who refers to the whole data breach mess as "the data industrial complex", has called for stricter tech privacy laws.

LG has followed in its recent tradition of pre-announcing many of its biggest CES products in the days ahead of the show.

Apple spent a lot of time in 2018 taking Facebook and Google to task for their awful privacy policies.

CES is scheduled to begin on Tuesday.

Share of Apple were down 0.51 percent as of 12:30 p.m. ET.
