The VII slots in above the RX Vega 64 and averages about 29 percent faster, putting it within spitting distance of Nvidia's RTX 2080. It will be fabricated on TSMC's 7nm FinFET process and uses a slightly gimped version of the Vega 20 GPU, offering 60 Compute Units and a total of 3,840 stream processors running at "up to 1.8GHz".
The Radeon VII goes on sale of Feb 7 for $699. Dominate your games and shatter records with the world's first 7nm gaming GPU, future-ready and built to meet the demands of high-performance gameplay. While we all had assumed (based on the logo trademark) that it would be called Radeon Vega II, it is in fact called Radeon VII. So what's inside the new Radeon VII?
But the 7nm process also allows the GPU to be run faster too, and the Vega core at the heart of the Radeon VII is running at up to 1,800MHz. The recent launch of the RTX 2060 demonstrated that Nvidia's Turing architecture can hit Vega 64 where it hurts, with that $350 GPU delivering 95 percent of Vega 64 performance.
Replacing the Radeon Vega 64 at the very top of AMD's gaming GPU stack, the Radeon VII will offer twice the memory of its predecessor with a whopping 16GB of HBM2 (High Bandwidth Memory 2).
It is likely that AMD will use more power for the same performance - 300W vs. 250W - and lack any forward-looking ray tracing support, but the Radeon VII deal is sweetened a little with the knowledge it will ship with codes for upcoming Devil May Cry 5, The Division 2 and Resident Evil 2 titles. With price parity against the RTX 2080, AMD is clearly angling to challenge that chip, but we won't know how effective that challenge will be until we have hardware in-house. All things being equal Far Cry 5 and Battlefield V both generally favour AMD GPUs thanks to their history with its GCN architecture. Content creators can expect to see a 30 per cent boost in performance over the RX Vega 64 in content creation workloads like Blender and up to 60 per cent for OpenCL, while gamers see increases of 25 to 42 per cent increases over the RX Vega 64 in 4K gaming.
And what of Navi?
3rd Gen Ryzen CPUs actually have two separate dies to help it achieve super fast speeds.
Vic Fangio Named Denver Broncos Head Coach
Despite the experience and accolades, Fangio had hardly been considered as a head coach prior to January. Though his specialty is defense, talking to him reveals a coach who understands all facets of the game.
