Alien: Blackout Finally Revealed for Mobile, It Isn’t a Sequel to Isolation

20th Century Fox tease a new Alien game that may actually be an interactive movie like Bandersnatch

20th Century Fox will partner with a wide range of storytellers and innovators to bring this epic chapter in the Alien Universe to life, with even more entries in Amanda Ripley's story soon to be announced.

Additionally, this title does, in fact, have 20th Century Fox behind it, so it appears as if there's no second Alien: Isolation on the horizon, at least not for the time being anyway.

This year, fans of the critically-acclaimed Alien: Isolation video game are invited to embark on new adventures with Ellen Ripley's daughter, Amanda, by watching, playing, and reading her story as she renews her fight against the aliens after the events of Isolation.

So we'll have to wait for more details of the game to be released.

Alien: Isolation is finally getting a sequel, but it may not be the sequel you've been clamoring for since 2014. It has been rated T (Teen) and finds you attempting to stay alive whilst trapped on board the Weyland-Yutani space station. Bad news: it's a mobile game. The in-game map - through which the player tracks systems, crewmembers, and motion-tracker blips - bears uncanny resemblance to that of the earlier game, as does the overall goal of the game. Lurking in the shadows is the haunting Xenomorph that hunts you down as you try to outsmart it by making choices that can change the outcome.

Except that the official Alien Twitter account has started teasing something that stars Amanda Ripley and involves uncovering the secrets "left behind" by the crew of the Nostromo in the original film. "The uncertainty and unpredictability of both the alien and her crew can impose total defeat for Amanda and the entire station". "Watch. Play" though and while the play bit could easily refer to some sort of web or mobile game the fact that a console game is known to be in development gives plenty of reason to be optimistic.

Alien: Blackout will be available on iOS, Android, and on the Amazon Appstore.
