Ralph Hasenhuttl steps in at Southampton till 2021

New Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhuttl intends to make a name for himself by guiding the club to Premier League safety.

He has not spoken to Liverpool's Guinean star Keita, saying: 'I'm not so good in French and he is not good in German and English!

"In history there were a lot coming out from there and players coming out of the youth academy and that's the goal for the future and perform with these guys, develop and maybe one or the other can help us do it better in the Premier League".

We will remind, earlier the management of the Saints fired head coach Mark Hughes, this occurred after a drawn game with Manchester United (2:2).

Southampton, who suffered a 3-1 defeat to Tottenham on Wednesday, are now 18th in the Premier League. "I really believe that if we produce those opportunities again in three or four games' time then we'll get our rewards".

He added: "I want to put my footsteps in the snow here".

'This step is not an easy one, but I never wanted easy in my life, ' the Austrian said.

Hasenhuttl attracted Saints' interest through his success at his previous club RB Leipzig, guiding them to second in the Bundesliga in the 2016/17 season and the Europa League quarter-finals last term. I always challenge myself.

'We have a lot of games coming up and if you know my football it is about training sessions and habits so when you don't have the chance to train it can be hard to change things. If you have the chance to do that, okay.

"Ralph Hasenhuttl could be a good fit for Southampton and I'm sure people would quickly start to like him in the UK", Bielefeld told Sky Sports News.

Hasenhuttl may wish he had stayed away on Wednesday, as Southampton turned in the kind of error-strewn display that has blighted their season so far, conceding three soft goals and committing too many sloppy mistakes.

With Hasenhuettl assessing his players, left back Matt Targett produced some lax defending that allowed Spurs to take a ninth-minute lead.

Pompey go in search of an eighth consecutive win in all competitions when they host Southend.
