There's a new Far Cry game coming, and it looks... dusty

Post-apocalyptic Far Cry to be unveiled tomorrow

I thought it was a fantastic twist, plenty of other players did not, but either way it appears that Ubisoft is going follow up that ending with some sort of Mad Max Montana mayhem.

Far Cry 5 released in March to positive reviews. Clutching what looks like a make-shift, saw-slinging crossbow, the sullen protagonist appears to be roaming around an incredibly cheery and picturesque post-apocalyptic landscape.

It's worth noting that none of the branding or wording in this trailer specifically mentions Far Cry 5. In the interim, Ubisoft has published a brief teaser giving us a glimpse of the game's post-apocalyptic theme. This secret project could be a mainline Far Cry game (Far Cry 6, perhaps?), or it could be a smaller spin-off like Primal or Far Cry: Blood Dragon.

That means that this new Far Cry - which will be announced at the Game Awards on Friday morning is a direct sequel to the last one, but that that direct as it's set quite a number of years after Far Cry 5. It won't be too long until we find out. And with the show's composer confirming that ten new games will be revealed during the event - and with Nintendo also coyly tweeting about the Awards - it's certainly shaping up to be a show that gamers won't want to miss.
