Samsung, Verizon to Launch 5G Smartphone in First Half of 2019

However, more recently it has been speculated a fourth version of the Galaxy S10 could be in the works that possesses 5G capabilities.

Another thing worth pointing out is that the Galaxy S10 Plus doesn't have a visible fingerprint scanner on the back like the Galaxy Note 9.

Instead it has been rumoured the Galaxy S10 will come with a flat OLED display.

The new leak also shows a dedicated Bixby button sitting on the left edge of the device, immediately below a volume rocker. The design of the display hole may not exactly look like that of the Infinity O display that Samsung teased last month, but it's expected that the company will still use the branding to market the device. Upfront, it gets a dual-camera setup that's placed on the top right of the display. Other novelties include One UI, a brand-new Android implementation from Samsung that's meant to replace Samsung Experience 9.5 (which itself succeeded TouchWiz several years back).

LetsGoDigital recently outed patent applications that suggested Samsung is working on a number of different design ideas for the Galaxy S10.

Verizon has worked closely with Samsung on its 5G rollout, making use of the Korean manufacturer's networking equipment in its deployment and device testing.

In terms of hardware, you can expect Samsung to feature a newer Snapdragon 8150 processor for the U.S. market, while the rest of the world including Malaysia will be getting their Exynos 9820 chip.

United States telecom carrier Verizon and Samsung have announced to jointly launch one of the first commercial 5G smartphones in the USA in the first half of 2019. A move to triple rear cameras, in-display fingerprint readers, and an innovative alternative to display notches will most likely allow the upcoming series to stand out from the competition, though it remains to be seen how well it actually ends up performing. That said, it's certainly interesting that Samsung has been thinking about adding this feature not only to smartphones, but also other devices.
