Nintendo and Marvel unite for Nintendo Switch Exclusive

Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 Switch Release Date Exclusive coming in 2019

The first two Marvel Ultimate Alliance titles released on Wii in 2006 and 2009, respectively.

A new Marvel vs. Capcom had been rumoured for a Game Awards reveal, but we're getting something just as cool instead. The cel-shaded graphics are back as well, and it looks swish as hell.

The announcement reveals that Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order will feature an original story and a cast that includes several Marvel superheroes such as the Avengers, X-Men, and the Guardians of the Galaxy. It won't be developed by the same team, but will instead come under the supervision of Team Ninja, developers of Dead or Alive, Ninja Gaiden, and Nioh.

It's not 100% clear who's publishing the new game but it seem to be Nintendo themselves, which implies they must've had some interesting conversations with Marvel. It wouldn't be a Marvel Ultimate Alliance game without the X-Men. "Thanks to our partnership with Marvel, the fate of the Marvel Universe will literally be in the hands of Nintendo Switch players, whether they're at home or on the go". It's like Super Smash Bros. but with Marvel characters. As in previous franchise entries, up to four players will be able to join on the co-op action either online, offline via wireless linkup or even by passing Joy-Cons around. That implies that Marvel has dropped the restrictions on film licences that have affected most Marvel games in recent years.
