Michelle Obama: I Didn't Believe America Was Ready For A Black President
In front of a sold-out crowd at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn on Saturday night, Michelle Obama looked like a woman who had it all. So I had to watch him get increasingly worse, and I had to learn in myself that I can't get my father to do what I think he should do, he has to make those decisions on his own.
Michelle Obama has said she would like to offer a message of hope during times of political conflict and division in the United States. "It's not always enough to lean in because that s-- doesn't work all the time".
She told some 300 students - mostly girls aged between 11 and 18 - at a north London school that her last visit there as the first lady in 2009 had inspired her to work for better education.
But her husband Barack is also worth a cool $40 millions, Celebrity Net Worth estimates, meaning their combined wealth is $80 million. I was getting real comfortable up in here. Alright, I'm back now. "Sometimes that stuff doesn't work". "I think it's okay - it's good, even - to do that", Mrs Obama continued.
"Like me, Meghan probably never dreamt that she'd have a life like this", Mrs Obama told Good Housekeeping magazine.
Perhaps Sandberg should take Obama's advice to heart and lean out for a bit.
But Obama graduated from the select Ivy League university and went on to Harvard Law School before joining a Chicago law firm where she met her future husband and president Barack Obama.
Her marriage and her family, from our outside perspective, are beyond enviable.
Why? Well one reason is that "marriage still ain't equal, y'all", according to Obama.
Obama said that marriage should be hard work, given it involves two independent individuals coming together to build a life forever - also, she was blunt about how kids can cause havoc on a relationship. They spoke at length about the importance of supporting and empowering women across all cultures and communities.
Obama, 54, was speaking to Good Housekeepingmagazine when the topic of the Duchess of Sussex came up.
Obama's memoir is filled with other moments of honesty for which she's being praised, particularly with respect to how much her words of truth have the power to help other women.
So sure, we should talk about the myriad ways in which women are discouraged from displaying ambition, but there's a lot more we need to talk about alongside it.
