Xiaomi's UK Launch Extravaganza Continues With £1 Smartphone Sales

Xiaomi's phones come to the UK with the Mi 8 Pro and Redmi 6A

Xiaomi's entry into the United Kingdom follows its arrival in France and Italy this May, and the official entry last November into Spain, its first Western European market, where it had already become the third largest smartphone vendor.

Xiaomi, which listed in July and has a market value of about $44 billion, initially targeted other Asian markets for overseas expansion, notably India, where it toppled Samsung as the top smartphone seller earlier this year. According to the sources, devices like the Mi Mix 2 and Mi 8 phones are all set to receive the Pie update before the year runs out, while offerings like the Mi Note 3 will have to wait till Q3 2019 next year. By bringing a range of our wonderful products at honest pricing we want to offer more choices and let everyone in the United Kingdom enjoy a connected simple life through our innovative technology. The company is opening a Mi shop on 18 November in Westfield, west London.

The only difference between the older Mi 8 and Mi Mix 2S, and the new Mi Mix 3 is the camera software.

As far as the specifications are concerned, the Mi 8 Pro comes packed with a 6.21-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with 2248 x 1080 pixels resolution. The handset is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC, coupled with 6GB/ 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 256GB of inbuilt storage. On the display, it also gets a pressure sensitive in-display fingerprint sensor.

"If you're looking for something more affordable, the Mi 8 Lite features a 6.26" Full HD+ LCD that comes with a notch.

Coming to the camera department, the device features a dual camera setup on the back, consisting of two 12-megapixel sensors with Optical Image Stabilizer and optical zoom. On the front, the Mi 8 Pro comes with a 20-megapixel camera which pairs with 3D Beautify, AI portrait mode, Selfie timer, Face recognition, and HDR imaging.
