Huddersfield Town vs. West Ham United - Football Match Report

Brazilian midfielder Felipe Anderson scored a second-half equalizer to rescue a point for West Ham in a 1-1 draw at Huddersfield in the English Premier League on Saturday.

Manuel Pellegrini may have been guilty of hopeless optimism when he looked up ambitiously at the top of the Premier League table four games into the present campaign but the prospect of Andy Carroll and Jack Wilshere returning to first team contention after the worldwide break is surely cause for quiet confidence.

Granted, coming up to a third of the way through the Premier League season, Town are sitting in the bottom three with seven points, but you sense an inner resolve at Huddersfield, and goalkeeper Lossl agrees. As a team, it was not the result we needed to get and not the result we expected to get maybe, but I think finishing like that, it was a good point.

"No, we knew what to expect".

"It's easy to look at it and be a little bit disappointed with the result at the end, but, honestly, I would rather look at the week as a whole".

But twice the home team managed to find the woodwork, meaning they had Pritchard's first goal of the season - and just their sixth goal in 13 games in all competitions this season - to show for their early efforts. His initial shot was smothered by Lossl and he then headed the rebound over the crossbar.

Philip Billing's deep cross from the left soon after curled over Fabianski and struck the inside of the far post.

"Unfortunately, it was a game where we didn't have the luck to score more than one goal but the way the players dug in, defended and performed was good".

Wagner confirmed left-back Chris Lowe was taken to hospital with a "shoulder ligament injury" after an awkward landing led to him being taken from the pitch on a stretcher.

The Irons head to the King Power Stadium on the back of successive 1-0 Premier League defeats either side of the global break.

Huddersfield were pushed back deeper as West Ham chased the game, but only Issa Diop's last-ditch tackle prevented Pritchard from making it 2-0 after he had raced clear.

The Londoners nearly struck again, but Diop's thumping header from Robert Snodgrass's corner was headed off the goal-line by Mooy.

"I would rather look at the performances and say we're on our way".

'Of course we can go higher.
