How To Get Your iPhone X And MacBook Pro Repaired

An Apple Inc. iPhone X smartphone is displayed during the sales launch at a store in New York U.S. on Friday Nov. 3 2017

In light of this, Apple today launched a new replacement program for iPhone X users who have encountered this particular touch issue.

Credit: Tom's GuideLate yesterday (Nov. 9), Apple posted a support note confirming that the screens some of iPhone X models either aren't responsive to touch or may respond intermittently.

If you have already paid to have this specific problem fixed, you can contact Apple to pursue a refund. Yeah? Because you might be eligible for a free screen replacement from Apple.

Users on online forums had complained that their phone was making "random clicks" when they weren't interacting with it, or that it unexpectedly stopped responding.

The display reacts even though it was not touched.

Over the weekend Apple quietly announced it is offering free fix jobs for certain hardware issues on some of its devices. The company said it only affects the original iPhone X, which has been superseded by the iPhone XS and XR. On the other hand, Longbow says that Apple is increasing orders for the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and some other older models.

As far as the 13-inch MacBook Pro is concerned, Apple said that the problems are related to the storage drives, and may lead to data loss. Customers with a registered device will get an email from Apple alerting them to this new service program.

You can check your MacBook Pro's serial number to see if your laptop is affected. According to the company, the defect is affecting some laptops sold between June 2017 and June 2018.

It's the latest stumble from Apple, whose products have suffered a string of uncharacteristic technical problems in recent years including faulty Macbook keyboards, overheating laptops, swelling Apple Watch batteries, the error 53 saga which saw iPhone become unusable and the iPhone throttling controversy in which Apple admitted to slowing down old iPhones.
