Florida Teenager Charged With Strangling, Burying Mother

Dawn Marie, a family friend, told Inside Edition Ramos is "not the monster they say he is", adding, "he was brought up in a loving home by loving parents". Then he went to get a wheelbarrow to carry the body out of the house and when he returned he discovered she was still alive, authorities said.

He and his cronies are then accused of ransacking his home to make it look like it had been burgled, with Ramos abducted, before going to buy drinks.

An argument over a bad grade pushed a Florida teen "sociopath" to kill his mother, hide her body, then stage a burglary at his home, police said.

His alleged version of events is said to have unraveled quickly, with Chitwood saying the boy showed 'no sign of remorse, whatsoever, ' after he reportedly admitted killing his mom.

The teen allegedly implicated two other friends whom he said helped him bury his mother and stage a burglary scene at his home.

Volusia County sheriff's detectives are investigating the suspicious disappearance of a DeBary woman who went missing Friday and is considered endangered.

Ramos has now been charged with first-degree murder.

Gregory Ramos of Volusia County is charged with the murder of his mother, Gail Cleavenger.

Chitwood said Ramos used his knowledge of crime scene analysis to disguise the scene where he had buried his mother's body. Those friends, 17-year-olds Dylan Ceglarek and Brian Porras, are also in custody and facing multiple criminal charges. The boy initially told deputies his mother was missing.

"The deputies and detectives who worked through the night and into the morning gave this case absolutely everything they had, and I hope the family knows that Gail has all of us fighting for justice for her", Chitwood said.

Assistant State Attorney Tammy Jacques says prosecutors are deciding whether to try him as an adult.

Detectives located Cleavenger's body in her burial site at River City Church in the early-morning hours Saturday.

"To watch how cold and callous and calculating he was, I think was probably the most shocking thing for all of us", Chitwood told KSAT's sister station in Orlando, WKMG.
