Facebook launches Lasso, its competitor to TikTok

Facebook Lasso

However, The Verge helpfully tells us that you "have to authorize the app to allow access to your profile page, photos, and videos". Just yesterday, Vine founder, Dom Hofmann, announced that his new 6.5-second looping video platform, byte, will launch in spring 2019. "We're excited about the potential here, and we'll be gathering feedback from people and creators". Lasso operates similarly, but being part of the Facebook family also integrates with the parent company site and Instagram.

Users can log in with either Facebook or Instagram, which the company said will help it tailor the in-app experience to users' interests over time. Users can create fun short videos that are aimed to compete with TikTok.

Facebook has released a new app to challenge TikTok. The app has become hugely popular with the teens that are now starting to flee from other social media platforms, specifically Facebook.

You can get Lasso, which Facebook rolled out very quietly, starting today. There had also been the video of an exhilarating athletic display of six men performing flips over a woman who's performing an upside-doing split to the song "I like it" by Cardi B, which follows an impressive flip by her. However, the service is now available in the United States. As The Atlantic's Tayor Lorenz pointed out on Twitter, it appears that Facebook seeded content on Lasso with videos that were already on TikTok. According to a survey by Pew Research Center survey this year, 51%of USA teens ages 13 to 17 use Facebook, compared with 72% for Instagram and 69% who are on Snapchat.

Currently, it is unclear when Facebook would be releasing the app globally.
