Blizzard announces Diablo Immortal for mobile devices, opens pre-registration

Blizzard Entertainment

As of now, Blizzard has announced six classes - Barbarian, Crusader, Demon Hunter, Monk, Necromancer and Wizard.

Another posts points out how uncomfortable the silence was at Blizzcon following the reveal, and a clip from a Q&A at the event in which a fan asks if the announcement was an "an out of season April Fools' joke" has gained traction on social media. "I just was wondering, is this an out of season April Fools' joke?".

Once a character and class is selected, players will be able to find and upgrade gear, craft new items and team up to raid dungeons for all kinds of loot. Diablo: Immortal was developed from the ground up as a stand-alone mobile experience. It will be called Warcraft III: Reforged, and will be out next year. Diablo 3 has pretty much run its course by now, and fans have been clamoring for the next great thing from the franchise.

During the BlizzCon 2018 opening ceremony, Blizzard revealed that it is developing a brand-new Diablo game to mobile platforms.

Reforged will release in 2019 for $44.95 AUD for the standard edition of $59.95 AUD for the Spoils of War Edition which includes unique skins for four heroes. However, this isn't for the millions of core fans who have been sticking with the franchise for decades. Power that Diablo's minions hope to harness to bring about the return of the Lord of Terror. A new keyword for the set is Overkill, which rewards you with powerful effects for killing minions with more damage than needed.

This is bound to come as a bit of a disappointment to anyone who was expecting Diablo 4 proper - but new Diablo content with the classic isometric gameplay is nothing to sneeze at.

Diablo Immortal is a brand new Diablo game that takes place between Diablo II and Diablo III.

A lot of people disagreed, and immediately began complaining both online and in-person about this apparent slight, this bastardization of "their" franchise, this complete abandonment of rational thought by a company that routinely creates some of the best and most successful games to ever exist.
