A look at the election security charges in Georgia’s governor’s race

Suppressing the vote of the dead is probably a good idea if you want a free and fair election. Kemp was clearly afraid that his racist voter suppression tactics may not seal the deal for him, which is why his latest fear-mongering tactic was so laughable.

Abrams is trying to become the first black governor of Georgia, which is why the media has been intensely covering the race.

David Cross, however, an attorney who has been involved in cybersecurity-related litigation against the Georgia Secretary of State's office, said he was also alerted to the potential vulnerabilities by the same individual who contacted the Georgia Democratic Party.

Abrams says Kemp abuses his current secretary of state post to make it harder for certain citizens to vote.

"And then those entities could have decided whether or not a public comment was warranted at the start of an investigation". Those private communications ended up with Kemp announcing, without providing any evidence, that he was launching an investigation into Georgia Democrats for "possible cybercrimes".

Kemp was criticized earlier this year, when it was found his office purged more than 100,000 people from Georgia's voter rolls because, as member station WABE reported, "they had decided not to vote in previous elections and they failed to respond to mailed notices from the state".

It appears that the Russians aren't the only ones trying to hack our elections. "I've never seen a time where the state of Georgia had more at stake than we do in this contest", Kemp told supporters gathered at an airport hangar.

The state did not know that Small had received her information from Wright - and assumed Small had written the code herself - until ProPublica told them of the connection on Sunday evening.

Adding to the drama, Election Day voters will cast ballots amid an ongoing dispute over Kemp's management of the election system he runs in his current job as secretary of state, leaving open the possibility that partisans on the losing end may not quietly accept the outcome.

In 2015, Kemp's office inadvertently released the Social Security numbers and other identifying information of millions of Georgia voters. Immediately after the 2016 general election, Kemp declared that DHS tried to hack his office's network, an accusation dismissed as unfounded in mid-2017 by the DHS inspector general.

CNN reports that the state party is claiming an "abuse of power" by Kemp. "You put Stacey in there, and you're gonna have Georgia turn into Venezuela".

The "exact match" system simply says that new registrations must match the name of the applicant exactly.

A national spotlight is shining on the election in Georgia, where both President Trump and former President Obama visited in recent days to tout support for Kemp and Abrams, respectively. And on Saturday, a federal judge ruled that Georgia must relax voting restrictions that could prevent more than 3,000 people from casting ballots in Tuesday's poll.
