Usain Bolt scores first goals for Central Coast Mariners

Usain Bolt reignites A League bid with clinical brace for Central Coast Mariners

After a relatively quiet first half, Bolt came alive in the 57th minute when he showed his pace and strength to outmuscle a defender and buried a left foot strike past Eze Consoni.

Central Coast are now preparing for the A-League season and Bolt was handed his first start for their friendly game with Macarthur South West United.

"Scoring a goal in your first proper match is a big deal".

Bolt is a Manchester United fan, and while things are not going well for the Premier League club now, they aren't quite bad enough to justify handing him a contract, or even a trial.

After collecting McCormack's ball over the top, Bolt held off his man and drove a low shot in at the near post, celebrating with his trademark lightning bolt pose.

The eight-time Olympic champion, who retired from athletics in 2017, arrived at the Mariners in August in a bid to ignite his football career.

Bolt was denied the chance of a hat-trick when coach Mike Mulvey hooked him with just over 10 minutes to go.

'My first start and scoring two goals, it's a good feeling, ' Bolt said after he was substituted in the 75th minute. I try to get better and I am on the way to doing that.

In the 69th minute, a defensive mix up from the home side presented Bolt with a second and all he had to do this time was simply tap the ball into the net for his brace.

"Slight improvement if you want to say that but his touch is still very poor", Bosnich, now a Fox Sports commentator, said during the match.

Usain Bolt wants to be a footballer more than anything in the world.

"He fits in very well and he has made enormous improvements".

In their final game before competitive football returns in Australia, Central Coast smashed their amateur counterparts 4-0.
