Tesla has officially filed to trademark Elon Musk's 'Teslaquila'

‘Teslaquila’: Elon Musk Dropping Own Agave Brand

He had been sued by the US Securities and Exchange Commission after a tweet in which he said he planned to take his company private. This had to be done with a view to settle fraud charges slapped on the company by USA financial regulators. However, one requirement of the settlement amongst others was to appoint a neutral Chairman on the company's Board; the reason being initiating additional oversight on the part of Mr. Musk.

Resolution of the case should allow Palo Alto, California-based Tesla to move on from the latest distraction to its core business of pumping out electric vehicles at a sufficient clip to please investors, some of whom have been rattled by Musk's social-media behavior. The problem began when on August 7, 2018 Musk tweeted that he was thinking of taking Tesla private at $420 per share.

Tesla shares plunged the following trading day and closed down 5.1 percent on April 2.

In spite of this, even after the settlement, Mr. Musk has continued to tweet negatively about the SEC (calling it the "Shortseller Enrichment Commission" in a recent tweet) and shortsellers in general.

During a rather ordinary afternoon on October 14, Musk tweeted a trailer for the award-winning anime film "Your Name" with the caption saying he loved it.

Reps from Tesla declined to comment.

The two parties reached an agreement last week, which has now been approved U.S. District Judge Alison Nathan in Manhattan.

Tim Higgins of the Wall Street Journal on what's next for Tesla after Elon Musk steps down as chairman. That led to the SEC imposing a $20 million fine each, on Musk and Tesla. Tesla also agreed to pay $20 million. James Murdoch is rumoured to be his replacement.

The US Department of Justice (DOJ), which has the authority to press criminal charges, has also questioned the company about Mr. Musk's Tweets, the company said this month. Musk corrected this because he preferred to be called the cuter "Elon-chan". Murdoch, who joined Tesla's board as independent director a year ago, has experience in working with media companies but none in leading a company that makes electric vehicles. Given his accomplishments with Tesla and SpaceX, and the fact that he's an engineer, Musk could just make every giant robot and Gundam fan's fantasy a reality.
