Spain 3-2 England

Spain face England in the UEFA Nations League on Monday

The World Cup. we all loved it, we had a great summer but privately we were all saying - maybe not publicly - they haven't played anyone.

"I was marvellous in the halftime break because the normal thing would have been to kill the players but I tried to keep their spirits up and told them many top teams have suffered recently", Luis Enrique added.

Raheem Sterling scored twice and Marcus Rashford once in a stunning first half for England, which held on to beat Spain 3-2 in the UEFA Nations League to get back in contention for a spot in the final four of Europe's newest competition.

Welsh, known for his tough-tackling, seemingly rubbed off on the England No.1 during their time together during the first half of the 2015-16 season.

However, Spain did get themselves back into the game just before the hour-mark, with in-form Borussia Dortmund striker Paco Alcacer glancing home from a corner.

I used to take a decent amount of interest in England and have been to a couple of tournaments in the past.

"As a forward you go through patches but I am forgetting about looking nice, getting in behind and causing havoc".

As well as the Croatia victory, Enrique oversaw a 2-1 Nations League win at Wembley and a 4-1 friendly success against Wales in Cardiff last week. His general game was good.

"You have to accept that, at times, we will concede possession in certain areas and we're encouraging people to take risks but for a very young team, I thought they put in an incredible performance". He took up some really unsafe pockets of play and got turned and running at the defence. We had to do more of our share, and being compact without the ball was critical. We forgot the first half and, in the end, the positive is our reaction.

Liverpool's Jordan Henderson missed the game due to the yellow card he picked up against Croatia but opted to stay with the England team instead of making a premature return to Merseyside. Their speed was an obvious threat, but the quality of their passes and finishing was top quality.
