Netizens Poke Fun at 'Cringy' Fantasy Painting of Trump With GOP Presidents

Trump administration considers asking parents to make dire border choice detention or separation

The world got a glimpse into President Donald Trump's artistic taste during his 60 Minutes interview Sunday.

The "60 Minutes" Twitter account tweeted a still image from the interview that featured the painting but the tweet didn't draw attention to it.

He painted Trump's face twice - the first one he was "happy with" but said "it wasn't the smile we usually see, so I found a bunch of photographs with this particular smile and I thought it seemed more appropriate".

The Post first reported Friday that the White House was actively considering plans to again separate parents and children at the U.S. -Mexico border.

As former President Abraham Lincoln is seen sitting across from Trump, Thomas said that the "funny thing" is you don't know what they're saying to one another.

Although most of the former presidents in the painting have since died, it does including living father and son presidents George H.W. and George W. Bush.

Trump was "very complimentary", Thomas said.

In this newest gathering, Trump is in the middle of the picture.

It soon sparked social media mockery.

"It's really Donald Trump all over".

"He had actually given a me real gracious call to tell me how much he liked it", Thomas said. Lincoln is opposite him and Reagan, George HW and George W Bush, an avuncular Theodore Roosevelt, and a tickled Dwight Eisenhower to Trump's right. He included a similar figure in his painting of Democratic presidents and told Time it represented a future female president, a confident figure who would not be intimidated approaching a table of powerful men. Both versions also have a "subtle feminist message", according to a Time article on Thomas's website.

Thomas said he "didn't want to have it all men, just because it begins to look like a good old boys club".

It's a print hanging in his office called "The Republican Club" that depicts Trump fraternizing with other United States presidents including Richard Nixon, Ronald Reagan, and Abe Lincoln in a private club, the Daily Beast reports.
