Nance, Cavs agree to four-year extension

Carmelo Anthony's debut was biggest dud on huge NBA night

Cleveland and the 25-year-old forward have agreed to a four-year extension, the team announced Monday.

The Toronto Raptors were not great but they were certainly good enough to rout the Cleveland Cavaliers 116-104 at the Scotiabank Arena to open the National Basketball Association regular season on Wednesday night. The Toronto Raptors got up to a 20-point lead in the third quarter, but the Cavs were able to cut that lead down to seven halfway through the fourth quarter.

The son of Cavs legend Larry Nance, the younger Nance is now the lone Akron native on the team following the departure of LeBron James to the Los Angeles Lakers.

To re-up here for four more years and. wear the (No.) 22 in the city of Cleveland, I can't put it into words. And now he's looking to keep the Cavaliers relevant with LeBron James gone.

Lowry had a relatively quiet pre-season - he sat out two of five games and was ejected from another - but he came out firing when it counted.

Just the year before as a sophomore he was playing for Revere's junior varsity team. "That's the style we want to play, everyone's involved that way, I think everyone has fun playing that way".

The team will hold a shootaround on Wednesday morning, so Nance's availability for the game should be made clear then.

Now that the megastar has taken his scoring and leadership skills to the Los Angeles Lakers, Love will begin his 11th season as the Cavs No. 1 option on offense and a senior voice in the locker room.

As a team, a couple of things jumped out for Toronto.

We know the story ends and it wasn't a happy one for the Raptors and it would lead to a massive offseason shakeup with Kawhi Leonard coming to Toronto in a blockbuster trade for DeMar DeRozan and Dwane Casey being replaced by Nick Nurse.

They had told me they didn't want to take a huge step back. User expressly acknowledges and agrees that, by downloading and or using this photograph, User is consenting to the terms and conditions of the Getty Images License Agreement.

"I was the only person to live in L.A. and vacation in Cleveland", he said.
