Harry and Meghan bring the rain, wow drought-stricken Dubbo

Prince Harry said he will always want to work with children

"And we also genuinely couldn't think of a better place to announce the upcoming baby, whether it's a boy or a girl, so thank you very, very much".

He spoke of high suicide rates and the need for a strong community to help others who are doing it tough.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have touched down in Dubbo, in rural Australia, to be hosted by farmers for tea and to learn about the impact of the devastating drought.

Meghan holds an umbrella as Prince Harry speaks to an outback community in a rare downpour.

The Duchess of Sussex's estranged half-sister Samantha Markle has broken her silence on Monday's royal baby news.

"[Meghan's pregnancy] just makes everything that happened over the previous year disappear", Samantha Markle told The Sun on Tuesday. But one elderly woman in a wheelchair stood out to the prince.

War widow Daphne Dunne, 98, has come out to greet Harry numerous times, come rain or shine, and has created a special bond with the 34-year-old royal.

The prince and his US-born wife were met on Dubbo's airport tarmac by gleeful school children waving Australian flags, before unveiling a new aircraft for the country's Royal Flying Doctor Service at the local airport.

She added: "They're both great with kids".

In the town, shops and pubs were decorated with banners, bunting and royal portraits.

"It's like a marriage in a beer can", bar licensee Ryan Mackintosh told local publication the Daily Liberal.

There's no sign of her tiring, but Meghan revealled so far this tour she's "running on adrenaline" as she undertakes her first tour, pregnant with her first baby. They will be in Melbourne on Thursday.

They had a ideal start to their 16-day visit to Australia, Fiji, Tonga and New Zealand in Sydney on Tuesday.

The couple is in the midst of a nine-day tour of Australia for the Invictus Games, an athletic competition for wounded military veterans that Harry founded.
