Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 smashes Activision sales records

Call Of Duty Black Ops 4 Hands On 3

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 dropped this weekend, and gamers all over the world dug into their wallets and dropped $60 or more for the title.

In case you're curious, here's how you can "cheat" via Black Ops 4 Blackout emote peeking (via sw3ar). It also sold double WWII in terms of digital PC sales.

Cod Blops 4 is available via Battle.net for £50, or £80 including the season pass.

The game also broke the global record for day one digital sales on the PlayStation Store.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is now available for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

To be more precise, digital sales for day one broke the record set past year by Call of Duty: WWII.

The brand new Call of Duty has ditched a single-player campaign in favour of a purely multiplayer experience.

A third-person view in a battle royale does allow players to see a lot more, potentially spotting opponents who should be behind cover, or conversely letting them be more confident that the way forward is clear.

It's becoming increasingly hard to tell how well a game is doing from its chart position, as many long-running series see major drops in sales but others, such as Forza Horizon, still manage to increase. GamesIndustry.Biz says that the new Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 saw its lowest physical sales numbers in 11 years. Personally, I enjoyed the nearly fast food style of Call of Duty campaigns, but given that I haven't finished one since Modern Warfare 3 in 2011, who am I to complain? If you haven't yet experienced the joys of Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, you can head to its website to find out more. With pressure mounting, Activision made a decision to dive back into the Black Ops series with a fourth installment.

Last, but not least, the number of people online grew since last year's release. Overall it is "the weakest start for a boxed Call of Duty game since 2007's Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare", noted the gaming industry magazine.
