Attorneys: Christine Blasey Ford doesn't want Kavanaugh impeached, has no regrets

Breaking Flake Is Officially a 'Yes' on Kavanaugh

Senators are expected to vote on Brett Kavanaugh's nomination to the Supreme Court starting around 5 p.m. ET Saturday. Former Alaska governor and Republican vice presidential Sarah Palin nominee, a long-time political foe of the Murkowski family, suggested she might challenge the incumbent senator when she's up for re-election. That gave him enough Senate support to win confirmation after a bitter, partisan battle.

In a lengthy floor speech, Collins portrayed Kavanaugh as a "centrist" judge and cited her belief in the "presumption of innocence" when weighing whether to confirm the nominee, despite believing that accuser Christine Blasey Ford survived a sexual assault. Protesters have roamed Capitol Hill corridors and grounds daily, raising anxieties and underscoring the passions the nomination fight has aroused.

Emily Ratajkowksi has been pictured for the first time since she was arrested at a Brett Kavanaugh protest. Something happened to Dr. Ford. Flake announced Friday morning that he would support Kavanaugh's confirmation, reiterating his statement of support the previous week. Two other women later made differing accusations against the nominee.

US Supreme Court Nominee Brett Kavanaugh has been accused of sexual abuse.

"I do not believe that these charges can fairly prevent Judge Kavanaugh from serving on the court", Collins said.

According to a Capitol Hill police officer, authorities are investigating a female protester allegedly assaulting a man outside Collins' office, and two people have been detained and are now being questioned.

In a twist, Murkowski said she would state her opposition but vote "present" as a courtesy to Kavanaugh supporter Sen.

"I've never considered a president's party or identity" in confirming a Supreme Court justice, Collins said, adding that she confirmed President Obama's Supreme Court picks Justice Elena Kagan and Justice Sonia Sotomayor. A formal investiture ceremony will take place at a later date, the Supreme Court also said.

Republican Sen. Jeff Flake of Arizona also said on MSNBC on Friday he would vote yes on Kavanaugh's final confirmation barring no late breaking developments.

In a letter to the Senate, Koegler expressed concern over its decision to rush Kavanaugh's confirmation process without hearing from Ford's corroborating witnesses, including himself.

And Trump told Kansas rallygoers that he will hold a ceremonial swearing-in for Kavanaugh at the White House Monday evening.

The Kavanaugh fight has riveted Americans just weeks before November 6 elections in which Democrats are trying to take control of the U.S. Congress from the Republicans. Several other undecided senators Republicans needed to move Kavanaugh's nomination forward said they felt the same way, forcing President Donald Trump to order an Federal Bureau of Investigation probe last Friday. But somehow, Senate Judiciary Committee chairman Chuck Grassley (R-IA) - who has been instrumental in ramming through Kavanaugh's nomination - found a way to make things even worse.

Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (KEER'-sten JIHL'-uh-brand) of NY says there's one fundamental question for senators when they decide Kavanaugh's fate: "Do we, as a country, value women?"

His nomination became a flashpoint in the #MeToo social media movement against sexual harassment and assault.
