Zainab Ahmed takes over Finance Ministry after Adeosun’s exit

Nigeria's finance minister resigns over forged document

"The party invites Nigerians to note that President Muhammadu Buhari, whose administration has become notorious for shielding its many fraudulent and corrupt officials, could not summon the rectitude to sack Mrs. Adeosun, adding that she would have still been in office, if not for the sustained uproar by Nigerians and worldwide creditors".

The certificate scandal which erupted in July, however, did not go away with the Minister saying she resigned after finding out her NYSC exemption certificate was fake.

Nigeria's finance minister has resigned over allegations she used a forged certificate to avoid the country's mandatory one-year youth service scheme.

There has been no given reason on the decision of Adeosun stepping down from her position, although there has been an allegation of forging her NYSC discharge certificate.

The President thanked the Minister for her services to the nation and wished her well in her future pursuits. She got her first degree in Accounting from Ahmadu Bello University in 1981, after-which she proceeded to Ogun State University for her MBA.

She is a fellow of the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN), a member of the Nigerian Institute of Taxation and the Nigerian Institute of Management.

"She has left Nigeria". Until recent events, that remained my understanding.

"Our investigations reveal that the Federal Government, which earlier made efforts to defend Mrs. Adeosun, has already perfected a plot to help her to evade prosecution following fears that she could open up on the very large corruption going on in the financial sector under the Buhari administration". I then received the certificate in question.

The former minister expressed her gratitude for the honour to serve her country. "Be that as it may, as someone totally committed to a culture of probity and accountability I have chose to resign with effect from Friday, 14th September, 2018".
