Uber driver suing Bucs' QB Winston over groping incident

Ryan Fitzpatrick

The driver, identified as Kate P.in the lawsuit, seeks punitive damages for the alleged sexual assault and a trial to determine "past, present and future emotional pain and suffering, and past and future economic losses in amounts to be determined by the jury".

The driver did not file a criminal or civil complaint, however she reported the incident to Uber.

Head coach Dirk Koetter declined to comment on whether or not Fitzpatrick will start once Winston is eligible to return, adding that the club is exclusively focused on prepping for the Pittsburgh Steelers next Monday night.

Winston initially denied the accusations, but he issued an apology after his suspension was announced.

Winston at first denied the allegation when it came to light past year, but when the National Football League announced the ban in June he apologized to the driver for "the position I put you in".

Winston then declared: "I want a burrito".

"I should never have put myself in that situation", he said. In the past 2 1/2 years my life has been filled with experiences, opportunities and events that have helped me grow, mature and learn, including the fact that I have eliminated alcohol from my life.

Sitting at 0-1-1 after two games, Pittsburgh needs a rally to get back into playoff contention and it starts on Monday night against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

'I apologize to my teammates, the Buccaneers organization and fans for letting them down and for not being able to be out there for the first three games of the season'.

He missed the opener at New Orleans and last week's home victory over defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia. This is the second time he's been sued by a woman for sexual assault, having previously settled a lawsuit from former Florida State student Erica Kinsman.
