Three takeaways from the Bears' win over Seahawks

Chicago Bears' Defense Too Much For Seattle Seahawks On MNF: Twitter Reacts

Most impressive in Monday night's 24-17 victory over the Seahawks in the home opener was the Bears' front seven, which completely dominated the Seahawks' traditionally weak offensive line throughout the first three quarters.

"A very hard night to take - with tonight, and after last week - because we ain't used to this and we need to get rolling", coach Pete Carroll said after the game.

Following an ugly defeat on Monday night, the Seattle Seahawks dropped to 0-2 for the first time since 2015 and face an uphill climb to be relevant in the NFC West. Seattle went nearly 24 minutes of game time between rushing plays at one point.

"(Carson) was a little gassed from working on special teams and helping us", Carroll said.

"I felt that we should make more plays against him", Clark added.

It appeared the Bears were ready to put away the Seahawks early in the fourth when Trubisky led a well-balanced 66 yard drive that finished with his second touchdown pass of the night, this time to Anthony Miller, which gave the Bears a 17-3 lead.

The Seahawks got on the board at the end of the first half, as Sebastian Janikowski knocked in a 56-yard field goal with time expiring to make it 10-3. Talking of Mack, and the devastation he causes off the edge, this is a favourable match-up for him against an oft shoddy Seahawks O-line which has continuously struggled to keep star quarterback Russell Wilson upright.

Somewhat worrisome before Monday was Trubisky's continued inability to deliver in fourth quarters. He has strung together 19 fourth-quarter comebacks and 23 game-winning drives in his career and last season led the league with 19 final-frame touchdowns.

"We are going to send our stat folks into overdrive here, but I'm going to put it out there".

Everything old was new again at Soldier Field.

"So there's going to be something to look at, continue to build and get better but it's a lot of fun to be out there". It sucked to be able to watch. "There's always going to be stuff we've got to improve on, and we know that, but you've got to enjoy these W's, and we definitely did". "We had that chemistry to where I was able to shift the guy inside, he gave me a ideal ball and I was able to catch it".

That left the Seahawks with too much to do and, although they collected another touchdown through Will Dissly in the closing stages, the visitors could not avoid slumping to a second successive loss.

How ugly did it get?

Seattle (0-2) played without guard D.J. That opened up the passing game some as Jaron Brown made a 10-yard catch on a Russell Wilson pass on third-and-8 for another Seahawks first down, but Wilson was sacked on the next third down, leading to a fairly normal punt by Michael Dickson - which is to say it traveled 40 yards and pinned the Bears at their own 4.
