RT's interview with Salisbury suspects raises stakes in UK

NOVICHOK DENIAL Alexander Petrov and Ruslan Boshirov claimed they're'not Russian agents

Alexander Petrov and Ruslan Boshirov - identified by British authorities as the Russian intelligence agents who poisoned four people in the English town of Salisbury - were simply on vacation: "Our friends had been suggesting for some time that we visit this wonderful town".

Moscow has refused to extradite the two men Britain suspects of killing Litvinenko, and one of them, Andrei Lugovoi, went on to become a Russian lawmaker.

They claimed to have had nothing to do with the attack on Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia, who were found slumped on a bench as the Russians were on a train back to London. Boshirov said. "The customs are checking everything, they would have questions as to why men have women's perfume in their luggage".

The source said it is believed they could have met a handler who worked at the embassy and that the medic may have been in an oversight role. "Sadly, it's what we've come to expect", Prime Minister Theresa May's spokesman said.

Memes and comments about the pair's potential relationship began to circulate on social media.

Former spy Sergei, 67, and 34-year-old daughter Yulia both made a full recovery after the poisoning.

The two men confirmed that they were the men pictured travelling to and from Salisbury in images published by Britain's Metropolitan Police.

They spent no more than an hour in Salisbury and returned to London after abandoning a plan to visit the Stonehenge monument because of "muddy slush" and snow in the city, Petrov said. They traveled to the City Stay Hotel in Bow Road, East London, where they stayed on Friday, 2 March, and Saturday, 3 March.

The Downing Street official added: "More importantly, they are deeply offensive to the victims and loved ones of this horrific attack".

The pair were caught on camera at Salisbury rail station on March 4, and minutes later another camera spotted them walking in the direction of Skripal's house - the opposite direction from the cathedral.

Boshirov said: "There's the famous Salisbury Cathedral, famous not just in Europe, but in the whole world".

Salisbury welcomes tourists from around the world and is very much open for business. By Sunday, it was 9 degrees in Salisbury, and the snow had melted nearly everywhere, which CCTV images showing Petrov and Boshirov clearly shows. "There's the famous Salisbury cathedral". However, the two took exactly the opposite route, moving southeast - directly to Sergei Skripal's neighborhood. United Kingdom investigators believe they applied Novichok to his door handle.

Officers formally linked the attack on the Skripals to events in nearby Amesbury where Dawn Sturgess, 44, and her partner Charlie Rowley, 45, were exposed to the same nerve agent.

Margarita Simonyan, RT's editor-in-chief, who conducted the interview, said on Twitter that "their answers are their responsibility" and it's up to viewers to decide whether to believe the men, who were "extremely nervous and sweating".
