Packers' historic comeback win one for the ages

Aaron Rodgers returns to game after being carted to Packers locker room with knee injury

Trubisky continued the momentum after halftime, leading the Bears on a 60-yard drive that led to a 33-yard Parkey field goal that made it 20-0.

"I prepared all offseason for the first game of the season", Mack said.

But as Packers fans feared the worst, Rodgers made a surprising return to the field in the second half.

Aaron Rodgers heard the applause after walking out of the stadium tunnel and back on to the field. On Sunday night, the Packers proved that point in painful fashion.

At Lambeau Field and playing before a national audience, Mack recorded a strip-sack of backup quarterback DeShone Kizer and recovered the ball himself to halt a promising Packers drive in the second quarter. Later in the quarter, he returned an interception 27 yards for a touchdown.

On Sunday night, it looked like the season was going to be over for Green Bay quarterback Aaron Rodgers-and, by extension, the Packers-almost before it began.

Well the dream was just that for a few hours Sunday night, then it turned into a nightmare. It marks the fifth-straight time the Bears have lost to the Packers and the fifth-straight opening game loss for the team.

When Mitchell Trubisky and the offense didn't do anything with that turnover, Mack chose to just do things himself: Kizer was hit by Roy Robertson-Harris as he released the ball on third-and-long inside Packers' territory and Mack snagged the ball out of the air, running it in 27 yards for the touchdown and a 17-0 Chicago lead. But the offense was stalled again on fourth down as a sack-fumble put an end to a nightmare game that started like a dream.

There's little the three-time Pro-Bowl linebacker didn't do. So there's that. One of the most impressive things about this is that Pettine had the success that he did with just three safeties; both Josh Jones and Raven Greene were inactive.

After the game, Rodgers vowed to play next week against the Minnesota Vikings.

But the Packers did actually deal with the Bears' dominant pass rush in the second half. "Cool game, but you got to finish". He added 32 yards and a rushing touchdown on the ground. He had two opportunities to win the game in the final minutes after outside linebacker Clay Matthews' terrible roughing-the-passer penalty.

"You know we talked about finishing and we didn't do that", Nagy said. But, even being carted off the field wasn't enough to stop the greatest quarterback in the league, as Green Bay won 24-23.
