Doctor Who Returns On October 7, Moving To Sundays On BBC America

Doctor Who Series 11 Premiere Date Revealed

AMERICA's Doctor Who is blazing a global trail to match Jodie Whittaker's revolutionary first season as the Doctor.

New showrunner Chris Chibnall said of the decision: "New Doctor, new home!"

After airing on Saturdays for longer than I've even been alive, Doctor Who is moving on up to the more prestigious (and more convenient, tbh) Sundays. We don't have an episode synopsis just yet, but it seems safe to assume that the woman doing the falling is likely the Doctor herself, crashing to earth post-regeneration.

Charlotte Moore, Director of BBC Content added: "With Chris Chibnall at the help and Jodie Whittaker's arrival as the new Doctor we are heralding a brand new era for the show and so it feels only right to give it a new home on Sunday nights at the heart of BBC One's Autumn schedule".

Doctor Who fans have finally had the release date of season 11 confirmed.

Jodie Whittaker's Doctor Who tenure will begin in New Zealand on Monday, October 8. The decision to bring in a female Doctor is something that's been met with tremendous excitement by many, with another section of fans not taking to the change too warmly. And with United Kingdom and USA fans getting the chance to watch the 13th Doctor in action for the first time at the same time across the globe, it's a really cool time to be a Whovian.

Doctor Who will formally introduce its first-ever female Doctor this October, and on a new night.

Whittaker will be joined by an all-new cast of characters in the series, including Bradley Walsh, Tosin Cole and Mandip Gill.

Doctor Who returns Sunday, Oct. 7 on BBC America. Behind the scenes, Chris Chibnall (Broadchurch) will take the reins as showrunner, replacing Steven Moffat.
