Cleveland Browns Trade Josh Gordon To Patriots

It remains unclear exactly why the Browns chose to get rid of Gordon now, but NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports the "release was not a result of a substance-abuse violation or failing a test". Gordon must be active f0r ten games as a member of the Patriots for the pick to come to Cleveland.

Honestly an 11 personnel grouping of Gordon, Alshon Jeffery, Nelson Agholor, and Zach Ertz may be the most potent collection of weapons the Eagles have had in my lifetime.

Gordon is expected to be traded to the NFC, so that the Browns don't run the risk of being burned by one of the league's most fearsome mis-match makers for defenses.

Josh Gordon, who spent six years with the Browns organization, battled through a lot of off-field issues. Gordon was on the field for 69 snaps (78 percent of the Browns' plays), but had only three passes thrown his way.

This season Gordon has one catch, and it was the game-tying touchdown in the Browns' season-opening tie against the Steelers.

While all of the Gordon-Moss comparisons may be a bit overblown, Gordon is without a doubt the best wide receiver Tom Brady has had at his disposal in close to a decade and could put up Patriot-esque Randy Moss numbers over the next four months. That determination will be exclusively up to Gordon, once viewed as a generational talent who hit rock bottom with suspensions and personal issues that have kept him off the field far more often than not. In 41 career games in the NFL, Gordon has 180 receptions and 16 touchdowns. But if Josh Gordon can stay eligible to play, he's going to be a monster by the end of this year.

The Browns got a glimpse of what a healthy and focused Gordon could do over the last five games of the 2017 season after his return from his latest NFL-mandated suspension, which lasted almost three full seasons.

In those five games, Gordon turned 18 catches into 335 yards and one touchdown.
