Audi's first all-electric SUV, the e-tron, revealed

Audi etron

Audi says that their goal with e-tron was to build an everyday use vehicle, with sufficient driving range for most users.

The pricing for the Audi e-tron will start at $74800 in the USA market and €79900 in the European markets. Audi's e-tron will be available to consumers toward the middle of next year. He also emphasised that the e-tron is created to recharge more rapidly than rival electric vehicles. The company is aiming to produce 12 models electric models over the next seven years.

Bram Schot, Audi's interim CEO, presided over the E-Tron event. The electric SUV also comes with an advanced regenerative braking system with different modes.

According to CNBC, "Hummel noted the e-tron will get 30 miles to 50 miles less range than the Tesla Model X and will accelerate "significantly slower". These signature design elements should inspire the future Audi electric cars.

The E-Tron's most important innovations were not visible at the unveiling.

Audi of America, Inc. will partner with Arcadia Power, a nationwide digital utility service, to allow owners of Audi's first all-electric vehicle-the e-tron (earlier post)-to support renewable energy production, and to help offset at-home charging and other electricity consumption.

At the rear, slats in the wide diffuser draw attention to the omission of exhaust pipes, Audi said in a statement, while an e-tron logo on the charging flap and, as an option, on the brake calipers further stand out in the high-voltage signal colour orange. The home charging stations sold by Amazon will price around $1,000 each, which includes installation.

With the help of specific sensor technologies, the DTS reacts and communicates with employees in the different parts of the facility and when the units require recharging they automatically drive to an induction charging station. By July 2019, this network will include almost 500 fast-charging sites complete or under development throughout 40 states and 17 metro areas. "We want to work with all" automotive brands, said Giovanni Palazzo, Electrify America's chief executive. However, the German automaker did mention that it will do 0-97 km/h in 5.5 seconds and reach a top speed of 200 km/h thanks to two "asynchronous" electric motors at the front and rear.

Now, what the Q8 doesn't have is the e-tron's fancy Virtual Mirror setup, which consists of small cameras replacing traditional mirrors, sending live images to a pair of displays embedded in the door panels. Audi has been heralding the launch of the e-tron SUV for some time, but until Monday it had not shared many details of the vehicle.
